Some kids are born with an interest in cars and we here at Mike Ward Maserati in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, love to see that interest blossom!  There are numerous kid-friendly automotive movies to sit and watch with the whole family, which is a perfect activity for this summer heat.  Below is a list of our top recommendations for entertaining vehicle-centric movies we enjoy watching with our own families!

Six Vehicle-Related Family-Friendly Movies

Back to the Future – This trilogy of movies (that we will count in one slot!) puts a primary focus on a classic car – the DeLorean.  Follow along with the time-traveling fun of Marty McFly and Doc Brown frontwards and backward as they drive their customized DeLorean through time.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang – A great old-school option that still holds up today.  It offers catchy music, a classic movie viewing experience, and fun for the whole family.  Your children might just fall in love with the flying car which is a main character to “drive” the story along!

Speed Racer – A modern twist on a classic cartoon.  This live-action adaptation follows fast-paced racing cars centering on Speed Racer – a young man with an obsession with automobiles and racing.  This adaptation is filled with action and comedy for everyone to enjoy.

The Cars Series – Chances are you and your family have already seen the iconic Lightning McQueen and his trials and tribulations through the automotive racing world.  These animated films are the perfect blend of kid-friendly humor and comedy aimed at older watchers.

Herbie the Love Bug – What can beat the classics?  Follow a struggling race car driver who pours love into a Volkswagen Bug that seems to come to life!  This comedy is a great option for the whole family that enjoys humor and racing.

Transformers Series – An automotive movie list couldn’t be complete without Transformers.  Who doesn’t love robots who can transform into vehicles?  This series is appropriate for older children as most are rated PG-13.  Have younger children that would be interested?  Tune into the animated show to give them their own ‘Transformers’ experience!
